Reporting directly to the CEO, this newly created role will see you lead Council's program of strategic and economic development initiatives with the support and collaboration of the wider Executive team, Mayor and elected members. Your overall objective will be to identify, implement and co-ordinate key projects aimed at delivering long-term, sustainable economic development to the region and will see you taking on a broad range of both strategic and operational responsibilities.

This is an ambitious, highly influential role that calls for an impressive track record of achievement in delivering substantial economic development programs ideally within a regional and/or local government environment. Key technical skills will include project evaluation, business analysis, strategic planning and investor attraction. This role will require an understanding of high level Project Management skills and experience liaising with State and Federal Government particularly in relation to Grants Funding. A strong commercial and business focus is required to drive growth through economic development initiatives, major community projects, innovative placemaking/urban design and effective promotion of private sector investment.

Your background will ideally include successful senior management roles in both the public and private sectors with an emphasis on economic development, community and stakeholder engagement and astute budget management. A strategic, creative thinker and commercially sharp, your confidence and presence allow you to quickly build credibility at all levels.

Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Commerce, Management, Marketing or other relevant fields will be a distinct advantage. From a personal perspective, you will have the presence to instil confidence at all levels and quickly develop a culture of collaboration and shared vision. You will be a self-starter with the ability to challenge the norms and deliver innovative and creative ideas to the region and community
