About the role:

We are looking for experienced, qualified Social Services workers with knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse.

The Family Safety Contact worker is responsible for supporting, completing risk assessments, advocating for, information sharing and referring women and children affected by family violence. Predominantly office based, they will provide phone and face-to-face contact, preparing impacted family members with information and support, where men are attending the Behaviour Change Program. They will work closely with facilitators and other service providers to ensures the best outcomes are achieved for all.

Working in this role you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying a case load of up to 15 women.
  • Using appropriate risk models to assess levels of risk, harm and well-being, including immediate risk and reporting to management where appropriate.
  • Recording and reporting then liaising with service providers, government and non-government social services and judiciary.
  • Contributing to the on-going development of the Men's Behaviour Change Program by working closely with facilitators.
  • Promotion of inter-agency and community response to ensuring the safety of women and children experiencing family violence.

Qualifications and experience required for this role:

  • Qualification in Social Work/ Social Sciences is essential.
  • Experience working in Family Violence or Counselling is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • A current National Police Check or willing to undertake.
  • A current and valid Working with Children Check.
